Experiment and research into the nature of the medium have always been part of photography,
but in recent years developments in contemporary photography have been moving at lightening speed. Artists have been creating more and more work at the intersection of photography and other art forms, departing from the two dimensional plane, while using different materials or forms and groundbreaking techniques.
The Unbound Foundation is dedicated to exploring the expanding limits of the photographic universe through exhibitions and institutional dialogue, research and collaborations.
Unbound has created exhibitions together with curators from institutions such as Foam in Amsterdam and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and has organized international curators events with museums such as the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and National Portrait Gallery in London.
In 2025, the Unbound Foundation aims to organize a citywide festival in Amsterdam in collaboration with several museums, hosting exhibitions, a symposium and networking events.
